The health of my dogs and puppies is important to me so I take every precaution to protect them. Unfortunately young puppies don’t have fully developed immune systems and are susceptible to life threatening illnesses, including Parvo. When diseases like Parvo strike, they can kill a whole litter in a matter of hours. Disease germs can be carried on people’s clothing and shoes. For this reason, I ask that you “visit” me online rather than in person, so that you may safely see my dogs and puppies. When you come to pick up your puppy please do not visit other litters on the same day, or go places where there may have been dogs who you don’t know.
I require you to place a deposit on a puppy before meeting with you because many families will kennel hop when they are puppy "shopping". I understand you may want to look for that perfect puppy before committing however I will not put my puppies at risk. It would be irresponsible of me as a breeder to allow people to come, and play with the puppies and possibly infect puppies that have already been sold, so you will only see your puppy or occasionally I may have your two favorite pups available to meet. All other puppies will be kept at home.
Children must be supervised by their parents at all times. They must be seated when holding the puppies. Only pups not already spoken for from the litter you are choosing from may be handled.
If you are purchasing a puppy as a companion for your family and a family pet, please know ahead of time if your pet gets along well with other animals. Most dogs are kind to puppies but a few are not. We do not allow other dogs on our property. A "getting to know you" type of situation could result in a puppy being harmed. In addition, I am very careful not to have any diseases brought to the litters by another dog/pet.
Normally a puppy pick-up takes about an hour. Please take care of your personal needs before arriving as there is no bathroom facilities available. I may ask you to wash your hands before handling the puppies because normally they will have only had one set of shots. I hope you will forgive me for being strict; it is in no way personal or specific to you. If you've been hanging out in dog parks, vets offices, or Petco you may have been exposed to contagious dog viruses. When your puppy remains healthy into adulthood you will be so glad that I was careful with him/her.
Like most breeders, I do not allow visitors to tour our home. Not only is it an insurance liability, should you or your child injure yourself, our mommies are not very keen on strangers handling their pups and it is too easy to introduce germs to the home by having visitors. Also, I like my privacy. I am not a kennel facility. I raise the puppies in my home. I would be happy to show you the moms and dads when available. I normally have the parents of our puppies running around the house or yard. Thank you for helping to protect the puppies' health. If this doesn't seem like a good way for you to choose your cockapoo, I know a few breeders that will allow you to come visit. Just ask me.
